Hello, and welcome to Great Lakes Kennel! Here at Great Lakes Kennel (formerly known as Tennant’s Goldens) we strive to produce the highest quality family pet. We breed for health, temperament, and beauty in exactly that order! We are located just off the sandy shores of Saginaw Bay on Beautiful Lake Huron in the Thumb of Michigan. Our dogs get to enjoy the beauty of all four seasons that Michigan has to offer. Breeding and raising healthy, happy puppies is our passion. We have been breeding Golden Retrievers for nearly twenty-five years, Old English Sheepdogs for nearly 15 years, and more recently we have added Doodles to our breeding program. We now offer Goldendoodles, Bernedoodles, Sheepadoodles, and Yorkidoodles (Yorki-Poos). Great time and much effort is put into our dogs and our breeding program. We are not focused on conformation or titles. Our main goal at Great Lakes Kennel is to provide a loving and loyal family pet that will remain with his or her family for that dogs lifetime.
Our puppies have made a difference in so many families lives and we could not be more proud. Many of our Goldens have proven to be top notch upland water retrievers, some have become certified therapy dogs, quite a few are service dogs, and one made a five year old girl’s wish come true when she was donated to her while bravely battling Leukemia. Another of our Golden Retrievers became a true teacher’s pet who accompanied his owner to school everyday helping to teach mentally challenged students. We have several Old English Sheepdogs who work their families farms and Ranches. Many of our Old English Sheepdogs also have become certified therapy and service dogs. So many have gone on to do such great things! But most importantly our dogs provide loving, loyal companionship to so many people throughout the United States and Canada. You will not find a more perfect pet than a Great Lakes Kennel dog. We have made some really great friends along the way and nothing pleases us more than an update or photo from one of our families – we’ve shared a few of their stories and updates on our Testimonial page.
We take great care of our puppies from the time they are born until the time they reach their new families. Puppies are acclimated to many different environments and noises so their transition into their new homes is easy. Adopting one of our puppies is a serious commitment and we hope that you put much time, effort, and research into the breed you choose! I hope you enjoy browsing over our website and if you have any questions please contact us. We will be happy to provide information about the various breeds that we offer and answer any questions you may have.
