The Golden Retriever, in my opinion, is the perfect family pet. They are a highly intelligent, beautiful, large breed dog that is always trying to please. They are one of the most intelligent dogs, falling just below the Border Collie, Poodle, and German Shepherd! In 2017 the American Kennel Club ranked the Golden Retriever the third most popular dog in the world!
The Golden Retriever is easy to train and ranks second in ease to train only to the highly intelligent poodle! Training a Golden Retriever is so easy because of their dedication to their owner and family, and their desire to please!
Because they are easy to train, gentle and loving, yet intrepid and strong and dedicated, many have made wonderful hunters, retrievers and therapy dogs. Some of my Golden Retrievers have even gone on to search and rescue. Making them not only the perfect family pet, but the perfect pet in the workplace as well!
Our Golden Retrievers come in several shades, from a dark lustrous, rich golden all the way to the light, almost white golden. Golden Retrievers have beautiful dense coats and grooming is at a medium level. Golden Retriever coats look best when brushed several times a week and the Golden Retriever should visit the groomer at least three to four times a year.
The golden retriever has an average life span of 10-12 years. This breed thrives with human companionship and is playful, loving, and loyal, yet fearless and willing to take on any challenge. Golden Retrievers enjoy all four seasons and mine really like the snow and cold! Sometimes getting them to come back in can be a chore as they love the outdoors so much! My Golden Retrievers LOVE the water and will jump in any body of water – including a mud puddle! They are a strong, intrepid breed, yet placid and loving enough for the smallest family member. Because of the Golden Retrievers double dense coat, they can adjust to any weather environment! The Golden Retriever really is the perfect family pet! I am certain any one of my puppies would never disappoint you!
